5 Signs That You Need to See a Dentist

5 Signs That You Need to See a Dentist

1. Toothache. If you are experiencing sensitivity to hot or cold, this could be the sign of a cavity or an abscess. Even if the pain disappears there may still be an underlying problem so consult your dentist as soon as possible before it flares up again.

2. Bleeding gums. Swollen, red or bleeding gums are not normal and could be a sign of gum disease. If gum disease is left untreated, it could lead to the loss of teeth.

3. Bad breath. Not only is this embarrassing, but it could also be a sign of gum disease. If you have broken teeth, they may be trapping food which will then rot within the mouth producing a horrible smell.

4. Jaw pain. There could be several reasons for a sore jaw such as an abscessed tooth, teeth grinding/clenching or a problem with your temporomandibular (TMJ) joint. If you are grinding your teeth, you may also suffer from headaches.

5. Changes in the colour of your mouth. A healthy mouth should be pink in colour. If you have any red or white patches in your mouth or have any ulcers which aren’t healing, then you will need to have them checked out by your dentist.
