As the COVID19 lockdown in Northern Ireland has been extended until the 9th May 2020, unfortunately the practice has to remain closed as well. Although we are unable to see patients for routine dental care, our dentists are available for telephone advice and/or dispensing antibiotics and are able to refer patients to the Urgent Dental Care Clinics if this is deemed necessary.
Our dentists are available 7 DAYS A WEEK from 9am to 5pm.
Our reception is manned by our lead receptionist Lorraine, Monday to Friday 9am to 12pm and then the dentists will remotely access the answer machine until 5pm daily. If you are in pain, please leave your name and a contact number and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
Please note that the Relief of Dental Pain Clinic at the Belfast City Hospital is no longer operational.
The Urgent Dental Care Clinics are now up and running and this is where dentists in enhanced Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) will treat those patients who are suffering from a dental emergency i.e.
- Severe pain that is not controlled with over the counter pain relief
- Severe swelling (if you have swelling that is affecting your airway, please contact A&E IMMEDIATELY)
- Dental trauma
- Uncontrolled bleeding after a tooth extraction.
When the practice is able to reopen, it will possibly be a phased return as social distancing measures will still be in place. We may not be able to carry out aerosol generating procedures straight away as the enhanced PPE that we require will be needed by our front line colleagues and it is our ethical responsibility to allow them access to this first and foremost. We will keep you all updated of any changes as soon as possible.
We thank you all for your understanding at this very difficult time and we look forward to the day that we can reopen our practice and welcome you all back with open arms (obviously still maintaining a distance of 2 metres!)
