Farewell Dr. Bruce

On Monday the 31st January 2022 we will be bidding farewell to Dr. Bruce/Ossie. 

 
Ossie, as many of you know, was the previous owner of the practice before I took over in 2016.  For 27 years, and with the invaluable support from his wife Lorraine, he ran a tight ship with patient care being paramount.

When I first approached Ossie with regard to buying the practice, he was very apprehensive about selling to the wrong person.   Not only did he question me thoroughly about my vision and ambitions for the practice but he didn’t accept my offer until I had provided him with a reference and he was confident that the practice, his patients and the staff would be in good hands.  This demonstrated how important his patients are to him and how he wanted the next owner to not only maintain the exceptional reputation that he had built over the years but to ensure that all his patients continued to receive the excellent care and attention that they had come to expect and deserve.

 Not only is Ossie a clinically excellent dentist but he also has a very kind and caring nature and it is for that reason that we know he will be sorely missed by many.  We hope that his patients will remain with us so that Orlagh and I can continue Ossie's good work.  We know we have big boots to fill!

So on behalf of the DCD team, I would like to wish Ossie, Lorraine and their family all the best for the future and thank you for not only being a mentor to us all but more importantly, a friend.

A few words from Dr. Ossie Bruce:

"I am writing to inform you that I will be retiring from Dentistry on the 31st of January this year.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my patients who have attended the Practice over the last thirty plus years for their faithful support, and I am conscious that for some of you that has meant coming a long distance. It has been my privilege and pleasure to look after your dental health and for many of you this has included your family too.

I am confident that I am leaving you in good hands, and that the team led by Dr Jill Stevenson will continue to give every care and attention to your dental health.

I have been fortunate to have had such a group of dedicated and professional people to work with over the years, and I have been very impressed with how Jill has led the team through the present Covid pandemic. With the unwavering support of the whole team she has kept the Practice running efficiently, responding to the frequent twists and turns of regulations and requirements, enabling the continued delivery of the high quality of service that we have always striven to provide.

May I wish you all the very best for 2022 and beyond. I will continue to observe the Practice with pride from a distance and promote their excellent work wherever and whenever I can.
